non-destructive testing

Vericert s.r.l. has a complete range of equipment and qualified technicians for the realization of the main non-destructive tests.

Non-destructive testing is essential to determine the condition of equipment in service, assess its state of wear and possibly estimate its residual life.
Vericert LLC technicians, through their experience, choose, from time to time, which kind of checks are most suitable to establish the state of the equipment to be examined.
The main NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTS that Vericert LLC can carry out are:

VISUAL INSPECTION

Direct (without instrumentation) or indirect (with instrumentation such as endoscopes, fiberscopes,…).
It is the first and fundamental check to understand the general state of conservation of the equipment/artifact and then to establish further specific NDT checks.

PENETRANT LIQUIDS (PT)

It is a technique generally used to verify the surface integrity through the capillary penetration of special substances within any discontinuities. It is a control limited to the identification of surface defects.

MAGNETOSCOPIC (MT) CONTROLS

Through a specific instrument, a magnetic field is generated on the surface of the product: any irregularities in this field are symptomatic of the presence of flaws. It is a limited control to the detection of surface flaws.

ULTRASONIC TESTING (UT)

It is a technique that uses the passage of ultrasound inside the material to identify any discontinuities. It is a volumetric control and therefore it can identify flaws present inside the product and not only on the surface.

MAGNETO-INDUCTIVE CONTROLS

These are checks generally used to assess the condition of a wire rope. The examination is carried out using a special instrument generating an intense magnetic field within which the rope under examination slides

THICKNESS ANALYSIS (UTS)

For a wear part, it is essential to determine the current thickness and relate it to the original thickness. Ultrasonic instruments are used to measure the thickness, which can detect the thickness of the material at the individual investigation points from the surface. It is a direct derivation of ultrasonic testing

EVALUATION OF RADIOGRAPHIC REPORTS (RT)

It is the only other type of volumetric control, besides ultrasonic. It allows the inside of the products to be imprinted on a plate and therefore to identify deep. The two methods (UT and RT) are complementary cause of them can completely exhaust every type of plaws.
