Lifts and Safety Components for Lifts Directive 2014/33/EU
Directive 2014/33/EU of 26 February 2014, for the harmonization of Member States’ relating to lifts and safety components for lifts, officially entered into force on 20 April 2016, definitively replacing Directive 95/16/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 June 1995.
The Directive applies to lifts in permanent service in buildings and constructions intended for the transport of:
- people;
- people and things;
- only things, if the carrier support is accessible, i.e. if a person can enter it without difficulty, and is equipped with controls located inside the carrier or within reach of a person inside the carrier.
In this context, Vericert, as a Notified Body, can issue one of the following types of certifications:

CE certified according to Annex V – Final examination of lifts

CE certified according to Annex VIII – Module G – Compliance based on unit verification on lifts
In the event that the installation of a lift system, whether in a new building or in an existing building, requires reduced refuge spaces at the head and/or in the pit, Vericert may issue a Certificate of prior agreement pursuant to paragraph 1, letter a) of Presidential Decree 8/2015 – Plants in derogation
